We are recruiting a Systems (Controls) Engineer to join our team in Temecula, CA.
🎯 Your main missions will be the following:
- Design and develop control software in Matlab/Simulink
- Product owner “Fuel Cell Controller”. The fuel cell controller manages all aspects of fuel cell operation, fuel cell diagnostic and fuel cell health and safety
- Own fuel cell system software functional requirements, support requirements definition for the fuel cell system, including Air, H2, coolant, and power loops
- Design, implement and test control software components and device drivers and work with the fuel cell subject matter experts to continuously improve performance
- Validation with SIL and MIL.
- Make decisions in the areas of hardware selection, diagnostic system design, requirements, calibration, and test, that impact fuel cell performance and life.
- Investigate system design, software, or calibration related problems, understand causal mechanisms. Recommend appropriate action, own problem resolution and document results.
- Oversee testbench design, equipment, operations, including calibration and controls, drive technical improvements.
- Create procedures (operation, calibration, validation) including pass fail criteria.
- Be a support/Leader for the General Manager and the engineering team on the controls/software department.
The profile we are looking for:
💼Experience: Experience in system and component level testing, hardware bring-up, debugging, and knowledgeable in sensors, data acquisition and analysis.
Experience in the use of power supplies (including high voltage), signal generators and oscilloscopes
Experience with LabView and National Instruments hardware is a plus.
Experience with design and specification of low level software, i.e. interfaces between application software and firmware preferred.
Hands on experience assembling system and component level prototypes, building, and setting up test benches to perform systems and component validation for durability, reliability, safety and performance.
Experience with the following tools preferred : E3 Cable, Capital Harness, 3D Experience-Catia, CREO, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, NX, Orcad, Altium, CANAlyzer, Pro-E, P-Spice, MATLAB/Simulink
Experience and understanding in automotive communication systems.
Experience with wire selection, fusing strategies and grounding strategies & Harness bracket design
💪 Skills: Knowledge about control systems and data analysis tools, familiarity with Vector tools is a plus • Knowledge of communication protocols, e.g. CAN, SENT, etc. • Troubleshooting skills for machines, electronics, and test equipment • Prior knowledge of PEM fuel cells and balance of plant components is a plus, as is experience with thermal controls and/or vehicle propulsion controls • Languages Proficiency: C, C++, MATLAB/Simulink, Python • Knowledge of C/C++, Python programming, Git version control • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
🎓Education & Certifications: Master’s degree in engineering discipline or mathematical physics such as electrical , aerospace or computer engineering, or Bachelor’s degree +3 years of experience.

The salary range for this position is $120,000 USD to $150,000 USD. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered.
